The #1 Tool For Being Productive

Do you want to know the secret to being productive? The number one secret tool for getting stuff done and being productive is:

A To-Do List.

I use a To-Do List every single day and it helps me progress in any aspect of my life that I choose.

Because a To-Do List isn’t just a list, it can be a step-by-step guide to changing your life.

All it takes is a piece of paper and a pencil.

Why You Need a To-Do List

It gives your day purpose

It keeps you focused and keeps you productive throughout the day, because you’ve set the purpose of your day. You’re far less likely to waste your precious time when you know you have tasks that need to be completed before the day’s end.

You SEE your progress

Having a To-Do List with crossed out tasks shows you that you are making progress. Seeing all these completed tasks accumulate gives you a sense of pride in your endeavors that will positively reinforce you to keep at your goals.

You are actively improving your life

With a To-Do List you are able to track all of your progress and see what aspect you are actively improving on. It doesn’t have to be a broad category like the one’s listed in our sidebar. Make a category for a particular skill you want to improve on such as +Photography or +Vlog.

The point is that you are leveling up whatever aspect of your life that you choose every single day.

How to Make Your To-Do List

People typically don’t feel motivated to complete a task when they feel no reason to do so. The way I get around this is by categorizing each task I’ve put on my To-Do List.

Much like how I categorize this site, I categorize my To-Do List with the following categories:

+ Body

+ Brand

+ Business/Work/Education

+ Relationship/Family

+ Social

+ Etc.,

I personally love using the + symbol. To me it signifies progress.

So when I see a task listed under a + Category, I know that I’m investing in that aspect of my life.

Typically you want to make your To-Do List the night before the next day starts.

Make a list of all the things you want to accomplish by the end of that day and when the sun rises the following morning – get to work.

You may be aware of the 80/20 Rule that states that 20% of your effort brings 80% of your results. This is true to the extent that in order to accomplish the 80% that you want you must focus on the most important tasks.

I’m telling you this because if you have too many tasks on your To-Do List, you will find yourself spread thin. With too many tasks at hand you are unable to focus on tasks that will give you the true outcome you want to realize.

That being said, limit how many tasks you put on your list. With the tasks that do make it to your list – focus and work on each task thoroughly until you are fully finished or genuinely satisfied.

Final Checkpoint

Grab a piece of paper and a pen.

List a series of categories. You can use the categories I provide.

Under each category write down a task you wish to complete by the end of the day.

Then get to work and kick the day’s ass!
